League Rules: Official Playing Rules will be IHSA rules for the current year with exceptions contained in items listed below.
Game Format: Two 18-minute halves with a running clock. Clock will stop on all whistles for the last minute of each half.
Overtime: OT will be sudden death. First point decides winner. There will be a 1-minute timeout before starting OT.
Clock in a blow-out situation: The clock will run in the second half whenever a team leads by 20 pts.
Half-time: Half-time is three minutes but may be shortened at referee’s discretion if games are running behind schedule.
Time Outs: Three timeouts per game. No time outs in OT.
Defense: Man-to-man defense ONLY for 3rd- 4th Grade & 4th (NO ZONE DEFENSE). Teams will be assessed a technical foul if referee determines team is playing zone. Coaches will receive a warning first. Teams at 5th - 8th Grade may play zone defense.
Pressing: Pressing is allowed for 5th-8th Grade levels. Teams with a 10-point lead must fall back into half-court defense. No pressing for 3rd-4th Grade teams.
Late or Forfeit: If any team is not present and ready to play at either the designated time or five minutes after the conclusion of the previous game, whichever occurs last, they shall forfeit the game. Final decision of forfeit is at League Director’s discretion.
Scorebook and Clock volunteers: Each team must supply one person (adult) to keep the official scorebook or run the game clock each game. Coaches must enter their roster with numbers on the official scoresheet before each game.
Basketball Size: Boys 5th grade or younger divisions will use 28.5” ball.
Uniforms: Each player will be given a Double R reversible jersey. The Home team on the schedule each week will wear white and the away team will wear blue.
Fouls: Five (5) individual fouls result in foul out. Bonus on seventh (7th) team fouls each half. Double bonus at 10 fouls. Two (2) technical fouls on a coach or a player in one game will result in immediate ejection from the game and will subject to review for further action.
Technical Fouls: When a technical is assessed. The other team is awarded 2 points and the ball. No free throws.
Behavior: Coaches are responsible for their players and fans. Referees or site directors reserve the authority to eject any coach, player, or fan that conducts themselves in any unsportsmanlike manner, and to disqualify any team from further tournament activity. Any ejected coach must leave the gym and will be suspended for the next scheduled game. Profanity will not be tolerated. Unsportsmanlike conduct, breaking league rules, or falsifying data will result in ejection from the league without refund.
No switching teams: Players may only play on one team, per grade level, during league play.
Special Additions: The 4th/5th Grade Boys Division will only be allowed to play man to man defense. There will be no zone defense allowed. Pressing is allowed the final 2 minutes of the game and there is no pressing with a 10 or more-point lead.
